Can you imagine a better way to arrive in Ålesund, than to be invited into a fully equipped wok shop? This, and no less, what met ua as we limped into town with a leaking slave cylinder and DOT-4 on the slipping clutch.
After Kristiansund and Bud, and after the magnificent Atlanterhavsveien. I recommend a ride across Atlanterhavsveien.
Without reservation!
But today’s’ hero is AMS Motorsykkelsenteret in Ålesund. I called them and told my store about having to fill DOT-4 in the clutch reservoir all the time, and the slipping clutch. The chief mechanic said that he had no vacant slot for me. But if I could work on the bike myself, he would be happy to let me work in his shop.
Think about that! Notice that the bike is on a lift. Standard setup in a professional shop.
If you ever come to Ålesund with a BMW, a Yamaha or a HD and you are in need, you should ride to AMS.
I am also happy to tell you that with a cut-off 4mm hex-key you can replace the clutch slave cylinder without removing the swing arm.
As I was starting to work on the bike a fine gentleman walked in. He had seen that I would be there that day, and offered to help. I would not have gotten that last pesky clutch-line back on without him. Thank you very much!
We have spent the evening with the family of (yet) another Internet friend. Details to follow.
Dag
